Life coaching is a partnership between a qualified coach and an individual (or team) that supports the achievement of extraordinary results, based on goals set by the client(s). Through the process of coaching, individuals focus on the skills and actions needed to successfully produce their personally relevant results. The coach listens, offers observations and asks questions to generate possibilities and identify effective actions that can be taken. Coaching accelerates the individual's (or team's) progress by providing greater focus and awareness of possibilities leading to more effective life choices. Coaching concentrates on where individuals are now and what they are willing to do to get where they want to be in the future. What are the benefits of coaching? Individuals who engage in a coaching relationship can expect to experience fresh perspectives on personal challenges and opportunities, enhanced thinking and decision-making skills, enhanced interpersonal effectiveness, and increased confidence in carrying out their chosen work and life roles. Consistent with a commitment to enhancing their personal effectiveness, they can also expect to see appreciable results in the areas of productivity, personal satisfaction with life, school and work, and the achievement of personally relevant goals. What are some typical reasons to work with a coach? There are many reasons that an individual or team might choose to work with a coach, including but not limited to the following:
How do I get started? The first step is to contact Jennifer by calling her home/office at (770) 949-9165, or on her cell phone at (404) 784-2061, or by emailing her at inwardbound.ealc@yahoo.com. Jennifer will conduct an initial phone consultation (this consultation is free of charge) to discuss your current ambitions, opportunities or challenges and to define the scope of the relationship. Together you will identify priorities for action, establish the desired outcomes and determine the duration of the coaching relationship depending on your personal needs and preferences. The initial coaching sessions are conducted face-to-face either at your home or office, or at Inward Bound, EALC in Douglasville, GA. The first session will last approximately 1.5 hours and could include an experiential learning exercise with one of the Inward Bound equine facilitators (a horse) in what is known as Equine Assisted Learning (EAL). Subsequent sessions may be conducted via phone or in person at an agreed upon location and typically last one hour. Some or all of your coaching sessions may include interaction with horses. Where can I find more information about Equine Assisted Learning (EAL)? The EAL/EAP tab on this web site gives you an introduction to Equine Assisted Learning and Equine Assisted Psychotherapy (EAP). More information can be found on the Equine Assisted Growth and Learning Association (EAGALA) website (http://www.eagala.org/). If you enter into a relationship with an Inward Bound professional coach you can expect to have EAL offered to you as a tool that will help you focus on the areas in which you want to improve your personal and professional life. How is coaching different from psychotherapy? Coaching can be distinguished from therapy in a number of ways. First, coaching is a profession that supports personal and professional growth and development based on individual-initiated change in pursuit of specific actionable outcomes. These outcomes are linked to personal or professional success. Coaching is forward moving and future focused. Therapy, on the other hand, deals with healing pain, dysfunction and conflict within an individual or a relationship between two or more individuals. The focus is often on resolving difficulties arising from the past which hamper an individual's emotional functioning in the present, improving overall psychological functioning, and dealing with present life and work circumstances in more emotionally healthy ways. Therapy outcomes often include improved emotional states. While positive feelings and emotions may be a natural outcome of coaching, the primary focus is on creating actionable strategies for achieving specific goals in one's work, school or personal life. The emphasis in a coaching relationship is on action, accountability and follow through. How long does Jennifer work with a client? The length of a coaching partnership varies depending on the individual's or team's needs and preferences. For certain types of focused coaching, 3 to 6 months of working with Jennifer may fulfill the client's goals. Although, many people find it beneficial to work with Jennifer for a longer period of time. How much does a professional coaching session cost? The value of an effective coach can be assessed best when the client evaluates the value of the impact or outcome in the clients life based on his/her changed behaviors during and following coaching. This value usually far exceeds the cost of retaining a good coach. Please contact Jennifer to discuss your interests and to obtain a customized quote. In addition to various on going programs, there are three packages available to clients at any time. |
